In 2000, a musician named Michael Purtil came to David and Danny looking to record some music that he had written on acoustic guitar. The brothers both loved the freakiness of the songs and saw their potential beyond acoustic guitar. David worked with Michael on the arrangement and orchestration, and wrote new parts where needed. Then the three went into the studio with guitarist Troy Lush and a bass player named Robin and recorded this and ten other tracks in less than three days. This one from the Purtil sessions is an instrumental called “Too Much Purity,” recorded in Sebastopol, CA in 2000 and engineered by Danny Rotter.

Personnel:
     Michael Purtil: Acoustic Guitar
     David Rotter: Piano/Keyboards
     Danny Rotter: Drums
     Troy Lush: Electric Guitar
     Robin: Bass
