Black Patti was David Rotter's psychedelic blues-rock band from 1984-1989. Featuring David on guitar and synth, his incredible "octopus on acid" twin brother Danny on drums, brilliant Page-esque slide guitar virtuoso JJ Holiday, and an ever-changing string of bass players, the band received critical acclaim and came close to major record label deals more than once. While the name might mistakenly lead one to assume that they were a metal band, the music was more like a cross between Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and the Beatles. A mere blip in LA music history, they should have been much more. The band broke up permanently in February of 1989, within days of what appeared to be an all-but-certain record deal with Arista Records. |
